Abstract

Slope stability analysis is commonly performed by the methods of slices while the method of wedges is an alternative which is seldom considered in practice. In the present study, the method of wedges used in China and Hong Kong is unified and compared with several common methods of slices by three slope failure cases. With the use of three actual cases, it is demonstrated that the performance of the method of wedges is comparable to other famous methods in both the accuracy and the time of solution.
