Abstract

Virtual team work has become an essential form of team collaboration in many organizations nowadays. Virtual team
members often “meet” and discuss business-related issues in virtual team meetings (VTMs), but the demands on their
communication skills to perform effectively in VTMs are high. This article discusses the notions of interculturalism and trust
in globalized virtual teams, the contextual factors influencing communication in VTMs, the reported challenges encountered
by VTM participants, and their coping practices.
