Abstract

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPolyU) has developed computational techniques and a design concept for large deflection and elastic-plastic analysis. The new Honk Kong Steel Code-2005 contains some of the latest codified guidance for second order elastic and plastic analysis of steel frames. Robustness and structural integrity can be manifested directly by a collapse analysis. Training with checklist and concept for a proper second-order analysis are provided at the HKPolyU as a technology transfer scheme.
