Abstract

Researchers commonly measure parenting qualities
in terms of whether parents are responsive or
demanding. Based on these two dimensions of
parenting, the Chinese Parenting Behavior Scale
measures parenting styles of fathers or mothers
from the perspective of adolescent children. There
are 20 items for paternal parenting (Paternal Parenting
Style Scale, PPS) and maternal parenting
(Maternal Parenting Style Scale, MPS). This is an
updated version of Shek and Sun (2014).
