Abstract

The story of this session starts in November 2022, where we began looking at initial impressions of ChatGPT. We’ll share how we explored the conception, writing, and editing of an article for STiLE that delves into an author's experience with ChatGPT. The session will then briefly consider where we, as language centre teachers in Hong Kong, are with ChatGPT, and where we might go next. It will look at how students appear to be using this tool, how teachers have been using it, its implications in terms of assessment design, and the challenges being posed by AI detection software. The session will then move on to examine how the review
rocess for STiLE works, and how topics such as ChatGPT are good themes for STiLE.
