Abstract
The characterization of the fiber length distribution (FLD) of short fiber reinforced thermoplastics was discussed. The fiber length probability density and the number fraction of fibers were found to be inappropriate in characterizing the FLD, due to its invariant nature. However, the FLD can be properly characterized using the cumulative fiber length distribution.
