    Abstract

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a prevalent and chronic condition that gradually leads to the three-dimensional deformity of the spine. Spinal curvature increases in youths as puberty progresses. This chapter aims to provide an introduction on a research project that has developed a tank top equipped with sensors to provide posture training for adolescents with a spinal deformity. The design and development process of the posture training tank-top are subsequently described. The aim of this project is to develop a functional garment which can train posture on a real time basis and track the progress of the training on a regular basis. As a result, this will reduce the future likelihood of spinal curvature progression which may need bracing or surgical treatment.
