Abstract
Control of manufacturing cells has become increasingly important as more use is made of these facilities and good control strategies are essential. The objective of this paper is to show how good control strategies are developed. The relationships between flexible manufacturing cells (FMCs), computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) and cell controllers (CC) are identified and these are used as the basis for developing and organising control architecture and developing software modelling techniques.
