Abstract
Laser surface cladding with NiCrBSi alloy on 6061 aluminum alloy was carried out using a 2 kW continuous wave (CW) Nd-YAG laser. The microstructure, chemical compositions and phase identification of the modified layers were examined by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. Cavitation erosion test in 3. 5NaCl solution at 23°C were also performed. Finally the cavitation erosion mechanism of the laser surface cladding modified layer and substrate was studied by the surface morphology analysis.
