Abstract

The optimum design of a resonant inductor for high frequency resonant and resonant link circuits is a difficult problem. The paper describes the design optimisation for toroidal inductors, using single and stranded conductors on a low permeability core. The solution of the analysis is presented in a normalised form so that it is generally applicable and an effective core diameter concept is used. The result is a set of design graphs to be used in the design process. The results have been validated by comparison with practical measurements.
