Abstract

Due to increasing demand on accurate dynamic load models, aggregation algorithms for induction motors and synchronous motors were proposed in the past for cases that the same type of motors are connected to a common bus. However, one problem remains unsolved: how to perform the load aggregation if both types of motors, induction motors and synchronous motors, are connected to a common bus of the electrical power system in an industrial facility. In this paper, a bus split algorithm is proposed to address this issue, and its detailed mathematical derivation is provided. The bus split algorithm makes the load aggregation possible when induction motors and synchronous motors are present at the same bus, which serves as the milestone for the advance of load aggregation for industrial facilities. A case study through simulation is used to verify the accuracy of the proposed algorithm.
