Abstract

True orthophoto has been widely used in various urban applications. However, building boundaries are difficult to be precisely located in the generation of true orthophotos. This paper proposed an improvement method for true orthophoto generation by using 3D line segments of building boundaries. 3D boundary lines are extracted by fusing airborne LiDAR data and imagery. Using the 2D edge's nodes of building from imagery and the 3D roof plane from LiDAR data, the 2 nodes of the 3D line segment are extracted based on the idea that an orientated space line intersects a plane with a point in 3D space. The experiment is performed to validate the method's efficiency.
