Abstract

Based on Topological Energy Function, the feature of line transient energy distributing over network has been studied. And a new transient stability analysis method-Branch Potential Energy Method is proposed, in which the earmark of system instability has been identified and the indices for quantitatively evaluating transmission line and power system stability degree have been established, and it is very simple to compute. The method not only can been used to first-swing and multi-swing stability assessment, but to identify the vulnerable line, critical cutest, and system instability mode. The Simulation on NEW ENGLAND 10 machines testifies the validation of the proposed method.
