Abstract
This paper presents experimental observations on a NiTi/epoxy interface of prestrained-SMA-epoxy composites by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Single SMA wire epoxy cylinders were made to examine the surface condition of a wire end region under a temperature greater than austenite finish temperature. A theoretical model is introduced to evaluate the interracial bonding properties of the composites with different prestrain levels of embedded NiTi wires during a strain recovery condition.
