N2 - This panel is the eighth in a series that originated at the SMS conference in Berlin as a discussion panel on turning teaching failures into teaching successes. The lively discussion in Berlin raised so many topics that we decided to dedicate individual panels to them at future SMS conferences. After exploring how to bring practice into the classroom (SMS Houston) and the potentials and challenges of Design Thinking (SMS Paris), advice on teaching activities and techniques for Junior Faculty (Minneapolis), collaborative teaching (SMS Virtual London), lessons learned from online for in-person teaching (SMS Virtual Toronto), designing a new course and building one’s research portfolio (London) the panelists now want to address how to effectively incorporate creativity into strategic management education. Creativity plays a vital role in the strategic decision-making process and therefore is an important business skill. Besides, creativity can make for more engaging classroom activities and thus enhance the student learning experience (Kaufman and Sternberg, 2010; Machali et al., 2021; Robinson and Schaible, 1995). First, the panel will address the numerous benefits of incorporating creativity into the classroom, including increased problem-solving skills, enhanced critical thinking abilities, and improved communication and collaboration among students. Research has also shown that incorporating creative activities into the curriculum can lead to increased student engagement and motivation (Reis, 2016; Schlee and Harich, 2014; Zupan and Svetina Nabergoj, 2012).
