Abstract

Arbitrary manipulation of orthogonal polarization states with a metasurface is presented in this paper. The metasurface is composed of centrosymmetric cross-shaped resonating elements (CCREs), which has two independent resonance modes. The length of two bars of each CCREs can be reconfigured independently from 1 mm to 7 mm to change the resonance modes. The proposed metasurface demonstrated a multifunctional capability by modulating two orthogonal polarization states. Dynamic beam splitting with splitting angle up to 84 degrees and linear-to-circular polarization conversion are realized with the CCRE-based metasurface.
