Abstract

A new closed-form solution is obtained for geosynthetic (or flexible inclusion)-reinforced granular base over soft ground subjected to symmetric uniform pressure loading based on Timoshenko beam theory. A parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of geosynthetic shear stiffness and tension modulus. Results are presented and discussed. The proposed model and solution obtained can be used to calculate the settlement, rotation, tension, bending moment and shear force of the reinforced granular base (or beam) over soft soils (ground).
