Abstract

Presents the application of a Preissmann type implicit finite difference solution to approximate flood propagation in a river network system of difficult terrain, tailored on the personal computer. With the use of this mathematical model, the hydrograph at any point on the river and hence the probable extent of flooding can be estimated in advance. The potential flood hazard in Shing Mun River and Sham Chun River in Hong Kong have been studied. -from Author
