Abstract

we study the link gain and noise characteristic of a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) radio over fiber (RoF) network using distributed Raman amplifiers (DRAs) or Erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). Experimental results indicate that using DRAs can obtain higher link gain and signal to noise ratio (SNR) simultaneously. We also study the effects of stimulated Brillouin scattering, cross-talk and linear performance of WDM RoF network when incorporating DRAs.
