Abstract
The principle of a novel PWM technique based on optimal pulse pattern with unsymmetrical switching angles (OPUS) for high power inverters is introduced, to explain how a specific harmonic is controlled by its amplitude and phase angle with low switching frequency by OPUS technique. Then the output voltage of a voltage source inverter (VSI) is controlled by OPUS technique, and the principle of a simulation case for a three-level parallel compensator in power grid and the method of compensated current control are illuminated. The simulation results illustrate a good performance of the harmonics compensation. The OPUS technique is further validated by FFT analysis.
