Abstract

To combat for the low bandwidth problem of a mobile environment, we employ a multi-resolution transmission and browsing mechanism for web documents. We employ the Distributed Agent Environment to combat the problem of poor network connectivity and client movement. A mobile agent represents a software proxy to a mobile user, capable of migrating to a base station and establishing a virtual connection to the user. The agent, acting on behalf of the user, travels along the wired network to carry out its tasks and collect results. We implement mobile agent in a mobile environment and demonstrated its usefulness in supporting our multi-resolution transmission mechanism. We also conduct some experimental study for performance comparison.
