Abstract
Tourism studies cover a wide range of topics, such as the heavily investigated marketing and service quality. Nevertheless, tourism-related experimental articles are lacking to a certain extent. Thus, this study examines 91 tourism-related experimental articles to determine the development trend over the past decade and provide insightful future research directions. Content analysis and a series of statistical tests are adopted to comprehensively understand the topics, methods, and types of experiments applied. Major findings reveal that the number of tourism-related experimental articles peaked in 2015 and has continued its trend until July 2019. Implications are further discussed.
