An optimized diamond search algorithm for block motion estimation

Research output: Journal article publicationConference articleAcademic researchpeer-review

Abstract

In fast block motion estimation algorithms, Diamond Search method makes a full inner search around the center within a large diamond region. By using the distortion information of the evaluated points in the large diamond, a novel scheme is proposed to speed up the inner search. Furthermore, motion information of neighboring blocks is utilized to fast locate a large diamond region for the efficient inner search.
