Abstract

Because inter-band switching between the 900 MHz GSM/1800 MHz DCS bands and the 1900 MHz PCS band is not supported by mobiles, a reasonable amount of time is spent in the switching between these bands when testing mobiles that can operate in all three bands, i.e., 900 MHz GSM band, 1800 MHz DCS band and the 1900 MHz PCS band. In this paper, we propose a new, fast inter-band handover mechanism that can significantly reduce the switching time between the bands during testing.
