Abstract

Freeform surfaces are utilized more and more in automotive lighting systems and other optical components. Due to the geometrical complexity it is difficulty to machine freeform parts to a high degree of form accuracy, and there is still no international standard to characterize freeform surfaces. This paper presented an Integrated Platform for fabrication and characterization of ultra-precision freeform surfaces. The contribution of the integrated approach is that it provides a single platform for the design, the fabrication and the measurement of freeform surfaces.
