Abstract

A simple algorithm to study the steady state performance of induction motors using time stepping finite element model is presented. With this new method, the complex solution is used as a basic value for each time step, and only the increment is computed by the time stepping method. It can be shown that the error caused by time stepping can be greatly reduced. The algorithm is applied to compute the steady state characteristics of a 5.5 kW induction motor.
