Abstract
This paper presents an empirical model based on the results of a questionnaire survey of the adoption and implementation ISO 14000 series of environmental management systems (EMS). The survey results indicate that there are five key factors influence the acceptability of the ISO 14000 series of EMS, which could impact contractors most on their decisions regarding the adoption and implementation of ISO 14000 series of EMS. Moreover, a predictive model is then put forward to support decision-making on whether to accept ISO 14000 series of EMS in the Shanghai construction industry.
