Abstract

The paper introduced an advanced electromagnetic theory basecl on electrical variable transmission (EVT). This equipment integrates an induction motor and an induction generator with two mechanical ports and one electrical port, and can replace the continuously variable transmission, generator and starter motor in an automobile. The paper focused on its basic principle and control technology as well as the comparison between the similar researches. With reference to the control strategies of series hybrid electric vehicle and continuously variable transmission, the elementary control method of an EVT-equipped vehicle and the layout of EVT test bench were analyzed and given. Some experiments and simulation results show that this equipment is smaller and lighter compared with similar designs, and has a very high efficiency. It can increase fuel efficiency, reduce emissions and the mass of the vehicle powertrain, and achieve more power and better comfort.
