Abstract
A novel adaptive wideband beamforming method is proposed, where the tap delays in the traditional method are replaced and only one adaptive coefficient is required for each sensor. In this way, the complex wideband beamforming system with temporal filtering can be avoided by implementing the proposed beamformer with simple analogue circuits for very high frequency and bandwidth applications. Another advantage of this new method is its potential to avoid the beam widening effect at higher off-boresight angels. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulations.
