Abstract

In this paper, a Fine Granularity Scalability (FGS) video streaming structure together with an adaptive leaky prediction technique is proposed to improve the current FGS coding performance. An Unequal Packet-loss Protection (UPP) scheme is implemented for robustly transporting the FGS enhancement layer over the packet erasure networks. The leaky prediction technique is adaptively applied to optimize the coding performance. Experimental results have shown this method achieves graceful quality degradation over a wide range of packet loss rates and a higher PSNR than the original FGS coding scheme.
