Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between the accessibility in the multimodal transportation networks and the travel mode choice of the travelers to high speed rail (HSR) station. The accessibility analysis covers four indexes, the satisfaction, the convenience, the comfort and the punctuality. A survey questionnaire was designed into four parts: the trip survey, the trip attributes, the travel characteristics and the travel experience. 1784 riders in the uncertain age groups access to Beijing South Railway Station were investigated on the holiday, the weekend and the workday. On the basis of the frequency histogram comparison, the relationship between the explanatory variables in the different levels and the travel mode choice were determined by the multinomial logistic model. Meanwhile, the influence of these factors on the accessibility to HSR station in the multimodal networks was analyzed and portrayed by the evaluation scores. It contributes to provide suggestions for HSR trip accessibility improvement.
