Abstract
We consider the problem of maximizing the lifetime of a given multicast connection in wireless networks that use directional antennas and have limited energy resources. We provide a globally optimal solution to this problem by developing a general MILP formulation that can apply to many configurable antenna models including highly and moderately directional antenna types. We shall see that such new formulation can be simply extended to even more sophisticated antenna types that allow multiple beam configurations. To our best knowledge, this is the first result that can support various configurable antenna models under a unified formulation.
