Abstract

This research develops a Total Quality Management (TQM) model and its action plan for survey operations in construction projects based on ISO 9000, with particular reference to the eight principles of the standard and the performance indicators (i.e. quality, cost, time, safety, communication and morale) identified by the authors. The resulting TQM model is analyzed and further improved using the perceptions of professional practitioners obtained from a questionnaire survey. The findings are then used to establish an action plan for the model to be used to manage survey operations under ISO 9000 in the construction industry.
