Abstract

In this paper, transient stability constraints, incorporated into the optimal power flow (OPF) problem, are formulated by applying the PEBS (potential energy boundary surface) method. The semi-infinite programming of transient stability constrained OPF is first converted into standard OPF problem using transcription techniques. BFGS method is then applied to solve this problem combined with interior point penalty functions. The proposed algorithm was fully validated on the WSCC 9-bus test system.
