Abstract

The concept of interactivity began with the expressive form of arts. Today, it has become a key topic of research in various design disciplines. Gradually, interactivity has become an incisive point that fuses art and design with technology. It is apparent that interactivity is the key in the 21(st) Century when emphasis is being put on people-oriented interaction. Through analytical review of a substantial number of prior examples, this paper reports the study of the manifestation of interactivity in art and design, by which a systematic theoretical construct of the deployment of interactivity was established. The practicality of the theoretical construct was validated with informative support through a series of experiments of representative feasibility tests in various disciplines.
