Abstract

This paper developed a new simplified model for counterflow internally cooled/heated dehumidifier/regenerator (ICHDR) in liquid desiccant air conditioning system, by introducing three efficiencies, i.e. efficiency of air temperature, efficiency of air moisture content and efficiency of fluid temperature. Empirical formulas of these efficiencies, considering the influences of inlet parameters of all fluids and system configuration parameters, were developed by numerical simulation. Results show that the differences between the simplified model and mathematical model of ICHDR are within ±20%, with a mean absolute error less than 10%. With this simplified model, outlet parameters of the dehumidifier/regenerator could be easily gained by the set parameters. The developed model can be used for many applications, especially the dynamic performance simulation of the system.
