Abstract
This paper introduces a simple one-dimensional (1-D) mathematical model for modelling geosynthetic reinforcement of soft soils under vertical pressure loading. The deformation compatibility between geosynthetic sheet and soil layers is considered in the model. Solutions are obtained using a finite difference method and an analytical method. Results obtained using the two methods are compared.
