Abstract
This paper presents a Shiny app that analyzes gait data generated from the X-Sens IMU system. IMU system provide several advantages over optical motion capture, including reduced setup time and the ability to capture data in natural environments. Notably, there is currently no open-source software or platform available for analyzing gait data generated by the X-Sens IMU system, making this app a unique contribution to the field. The app provides a user-friendly interface that allows researchers and clinicians to easily visualize and analyze the data collected from patients with gait disorders. The app generates commonly used gait parameters, including gait speed, stride length, stance time, and joint angles based on the X-Sens IMU system output data. The results obtained from the app have been validated against an optical motion capture system, and a high level of agreement was observed between the two methods. Besides, the app integrated the SPM1D statistical analysis package, which allows for the comparison of patient's gait data with norm values throughout the gait cycle. The SPM1D analysis enables the identification of anomalies in patients' gait patterns rapidly.
