Abstract

Depicts the implementation and the rigorous verification of a generally applicable one-dimensional model, tailored for use on the IBM/PC/XT or PC/AT microcomputers, for simulation of unsteady flow in a system of interconnected open channels. At any desired location throughout the network water surface elevation and discharge are computed using an implicit finite difference technique. The model is then applied to selected real prototype cases, from which its usefulness in river design for tidal or flood flows is proved. (A)
