Abstract

Switched reluctance motors have high efficiency, high power density, high fault tolerance, and low manufacturing cost. They have a high potential to be applied in electric marine propulsion. Efficiency of power conversion is one of the important items. A resonant converter is proposed for switched reluctance motor drive. All high frequency switches in the converter are operated under zero-voltage switching condition. The zero-voltage switching feature provides low switching loss. Operation of the proposed circuit is provided in this paper.
