Abstract

Overmodulation could extend output voltage range and improve the DC voltage efficiency. Researches focus on the linear output voltage versus modulation index. This paper present one two stage modulation method which is similar with conventional two mode overmodulation method but the reference voltage vector and hold angle calculation processes are derived from vector space area equilibrium thus simple to understand and realize. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity. The comparison with conventional two mode overmodulation method display this method has excellent performance on line side output voltage linearity versus modulation index.
