Abstract
This paper presents a novel rotor position detection method for sensorless control of magnetic-geared permanent-magnet brushless motor. Instead of use of traditional position sensor such as encoder and resolver, two special sensor windings are installed in the stator slots to replace the position sensors. A magnetic-geared permanent-magnet brushless motor has been designed and simulated to verify the validity of the proposed method. The result shows that this novel rotor position detection method is compact, effective and it can be used for sensorless control of magnetic-geared permanent-magnet brushless motor.
