Abstract

The supramolecular host molecule N,N′,N″-tris(ruthenocenylinethyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane perchlorate [LH] ClO4was prepared and its molecular structure was determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. The guest proton was localized on one of the aza atoms of the macrocycle (N-H: 0.71 Å). Cyclic voltammetric measurement displays an irreversible oxidation wave at 0.84 V and is attributable to the oxidation of RuIIto RuIIIof the appended metallocenes.
