Abstract

The Supreme Color Physics Expert (SCOPE) project was established in 1994 between the Gain Associates Inc. Of Taiwan and the University of Derby, UK. The aim was to develop all of the basic functions included in the conventional color physics system, such as color measurement, color-difference evaluation, dyestuff database loading, and recipe correction and formulation etc., as well as develop and incorporate new technological features of color on-line, electronic recipe archiving, Expert Match and Expert Tolerancing. This article documents the additional features provided by SCOPE and explains the financial benefits of using the system. In conclusion it is found that the features maximise the efficiency of industrial color management, achieving quick response and improved right-first-time results rate.
