Abstract

Diapers become popular and widely used in healthcare during the last few decades. It is critically important in healthcare management to monitor the incontinence conditions of frail elderly. This paper aims to model the wetness-time relationship via scientific experiments by a newly devised wetness sensor and to work out an effective way for the prediction of the volume of urine voided. Physiological saline is used to emulate the urine voiding. This study provides a way for monitoring the incontinence conditions of the elderly and can be used to improve the effectiveness of clinical management system by the application of smart diapers with build-in sensors.
