Abstract
This paper presents a quality management system based on Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII). A real-time monitoring system is used to acquire the information necessary for MRPII to drive quality management over this framework. Firstly, the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) is overlaid on the structure of MRPII. Secondly, quality management activities in manufacturing systems are used to shape the manufacturing database concept and information models of various manufacturing activities. Finally, a complete dynamic system model setting out the architecture of a proactive resource planning environment that encapsulates quality management is derived.
