Abstract

A systematic approach for the derivation of UWBdetectors cannot be found in the literature. The detectors pub-lished up to now have been developed by inspection, using aheuristic approach. However, that solution prevents the optimiza-tion of UWB detector performance. A new approach is proposedhere for the derivation of optimum waveform detectors that isvalid for each type of carriers. To illustrate the application ofthe new method, the derivation of two detectors are shown.
