A J1̃J6 method for linear readout of dynamic phase changes in homodyne interferometric optical fibre sensors

Abstract

We report a J1̃J6 method for linear readout of dynamic phase changes in a fibre optic homodyne interferometer. The method uses either three odd harmonics or three even harmonics to recover the amplitude of a harmonically varying dynamic phase modulation. The method overcomes the drawbacks presented in the J1̃J4 method and does hot require repeating of measurement even when the random phase bias is mπ/2(m = 0,1,2⋯).
