Abstract

Sustainability pertains to development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations. Although it has been defined 20 years ago, there is still some misunderstanding and confusing among its practitioners. Th WTO defines it as ensuring that trade liberalization contributes not only to growth but to equity, ecological efficiency and environmental protection. Sustainability not only pertains to activity that is good to the environment, but also it relates to social, economic, environmental and technological issues. On the one hand, green pertains to anything safely sourced from the environment, whether materials or energy. Sustainability in the context of the textile industry is about reducing emissions, waste, byproducts, energy consumption and overall environmental impact.
