Abstract
Braced excavation construction problem is an important and commonly encountered geotechnical problems. This problem is usally analyzed by conventional design methods or linear finite element analysis without sufficient consideration of the modelling of the construction operations and soil-structure interaction effects. The authors have carried out a fundamental study on this problem with due consideration to the above mentioned shortcomings. A new procedure developed by the authors for the evaluation of equivalent excavation nodal forces is also demonstrated in the present study.
